2012年iF設(shè)計獎首次將產(chǎn)品、傳達、包裝及材料四個設(shè)計獎項整合在一個評審會議中進行評選，同時產(chǎn)生100座iF金質(zhì)獎。

2012年iF設(shè)計獎項開始了所有iF設(shè)計獎項的轉(zhuǎn)型- 從今年度開始iF產(chǎn)品設(shè)計獎、iF傳達設(shè)計獎、iF材料設(shè)計獎與iF包裝設(shè)計獎的評選作業(yè)將在秋天的同一個評選會期中作成決定。今年，計有來自48個國家1,605位參賽者的4,322件參賽作品接受評委們嚴謹?shù)脑u審，最后僅有1,218件作品獲選iF設(shè)計獎，2012年2月10日在德國慕尼黑寶馬世界(BMW World) 的iF設(shè)計之夜頒獎典禮中，100件杰出獲獎作品將另獲頒iF金質(zhì)獎的榮耀。
